Following last season’s concert pairing orchestral works with world and jazz fusion pieces, Kristjan Järvi curates this powerfully spiritual programme featuring the music of Arvo Pärt and captivating Tunisian vocalist and oud player Dhafer Youssef.
The concert includes the UK premiere of new orchestral arrangements of works from Youssef’s latest album, Birds Requiem, which traverse the sacred to the profane, divine to terrestrial, complemented beautifully by the haunting ‘holy minimalism’ of Arvo Pärt’s Third Symphony.
As thrilling as it is thought-provoking, this celebration of man, mysticism and music promises to remind us of the rapture all musicians and music-lovers have in common.
